Whole Earth’s Environmental targets

Whole Earth’s Environmental targets

We at Whole Earth are committed to minimising the possible negative environmental impact of our activities. One of our business objectives for 2006 was to implement an EMS (Environmental Management System) leading to ISO14001 accreditation, which we are proud to say we achieved. One of the key objectives of this standard is to seek continuous improvement and as such we set ourselves some ambitious targets for 2008. These include;

  • Reducing packaging weight per product by as much as 25%
  • Reducing our carbon emissions* per £1 million of sales to less than 40 tonnes.
  • Reducing our electricity usage by a further 5%
  • The introduction of a program to ‘carbon mile’ some of our key product lines

How did we do in 2007?

  • We reduced our carbon footprint* by 40%
  • We reduced our paper usage by 30%
  • We reduced our electricity usage by 11%
  • We moved to a supplier of clean energy
  • We reviewed all our internal processes to minimise their environmental impact.
