Stressbusters
Think in Italian
Doesn’t have to be about Italian things, just with Italian attitude. Add vowels to the end of every other word and allow yourself the odd pout and/or shrug.
Say “no”
Nicely, but assertively. You’re less likely to be put-upon and feel in charge of your destiny.
Wake up your face
We tend not to be very touchy-feely about our own faces. This is how to show yours you really care.
- Gently rub your whole face with your fingertips
- Spend a few moments patting face with your fingers
- Loosen up by pulling various faces
- Gently caress face with your fingers
Got that? Rub/Pat/Gurn/Love. Fun and anti-ageing too.
Laugh
Not at anything, particularly. Grin from ear-to-ear and fake a silent belly laugh. If you hear a real one, you’ve been spotted.
Do nothing
Not as easy as it sounds in this day and age. Yoga and meditation are great ways to stay grounded, but here’s an idea that just requires a chair and 10 minutes. Sit on a supportive, straight-backed chair, with feet flat on the floor, hands resting in your lap, and eyes closed. Tense every muscle you can, feel the tension and… relax. Ahhhhhhh …
Write a jingle
This one really is easy, if slightly ridiculous. Just take any Whole Earth product and sing whatever’s written on the label/packet to a happy tune, e.g. to the tune of “Just the Way You Are” © Billy Joel:
“A yummy mix of
Whole wheat flakes and
Ri-ice with a malty taste”
